Come Fish Aboard the HULA

If fishing a Merritt is on your bucket list, then consider spending a day on the HULA. Truly an ideal boat for fishing the waters off Oahu's north shore.

HULA was custom built in 1982 with a Kevlar hull powered by twin 500hp Caterpillars. It is the most luxurious boat in Haleiwa. You will find a spacious cabin cooled by 3 air conditioners, a large flybridge, and plenty of room in the cockpit for battling fish.

With only 11 ever made, the Merritt 46 has long been regarded as one of the best fishing boats ever. Just stepping aboard a boat like this is a rare opportunity.

Captains and Crew

Both Captain Chris and Tim grew up fishing the waters off of Miami, the Florida Keys and the Bahamas before moving to Hawaii.

Now, with over 35 years of experience between them fishing the waters off Oahu, we can put you on the fish.

We welcome novice anglers, families, all businesses and the experienced sportsman.

What To Expect

The North Shore of Oahu is loaded with fish.

The Experience

Leaving early, we like to catch live bait on the way out, while enjoying the dawn. Then we will put out a spread targeting Marlin, Ahi, Ono or Mahi, depending on the bite. You will likely see whales along the way and enjoy a beautiful North Shore sunrise or sunset.

Safety First

We emphasize safety. HULA is equipped with multiple VHFs, satellite communication, EPIRB, lots of lifejackets, and a life raft.

Seasons

Summer: Generally the best fishing. A full day is recommended as it takes a while to get to the best grounds.

Winter: Half days are recommended. Great for whale watching!

Provisions

You will need to bring your own food and drink and can store your provisions in one of two refrigerators. If you desire catering, please let us know well in advance.

Please no smoking.

If visiting Hawaii, it's best to book the charter early during your stay.
