Fish Policy
Handling the Catch
It is the policy of HULA to cut the fish for you at the slip. We bag the fish for you, but you need to bring your own cooler to transport the fish. We are happy to share the catch with you.
Marlin Policy
We do not kill Marlin unless you are going to mount the fish or it comes up dead. We encourage tag and release on all Billfish (Marlin, Spearfish, Sailfish). We prefer to release the larger Blue Marlin (females) to breed but will take a Striped Marlin under 150lbs for eating.
Sustainability
Because of the value of the Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna) and the high cost of doing business, the boat keeps the majority of the fish to sell to the local market. This helps keep our charter rates competitive. However, we always ensure our guests have enough fresh fish to enjoy during their stay (usually 40-50 lbs if the catch allows).
*Policy subject to Captain's discretion based on catch size and variety.
